Samantha
The breeder, handler and trainer behind Thistleborne K9 in Auburn, Georgia.
How it began
A dog named Shelby
Samantha began breeding Dutch Shepherds out of deep admiration for their incredible work ability, unwavering drive and engaging temperament. Her bond with her first Dutch Shepherd, Shelby, changed everything: Shelby saved Samantha’s life by alerting her to a stroke — and she is still at work today as a PTSD and medical alert service dog.
Shelby’s heroism and loyal spirit inspired Samantha to share these extraordinary traits with others through responsible breeding. Out of Shelby came Vapor — the OG, Samantha’s first self-made protection dog, “the one who demands respect on my behalf.”
“As a Fabergé egg is a unique and extremely rare item of jewelry, she views her Dutchies in the same light.”
That was the meaning behind her original kennel name. Established in 2021, Fabergé Hollandse Herdershond — FHH — was started with the intention of breeding and handling the best Dutchies she could find; the program now carries the Thistleborne K9 name. The dogs live in her home and in a kennel on her Auburn property, and they work: personal protection, obedience, bite sport and demonstration.
Beliefs
What guides the program
Excellence, without shortcuts
Health, correct conformation, mental stability and exceptional working ability — each dog has to excel physically and mentally before it shapes a litter.
Time to grow up right
Unlike conventional breeders, Samantha keeps puppies until ten weeks old, giving them the time and care to meet life with confidence and resilience.
Transparency
She is happy to answer any question about breeding practices or lineage — and every puppy receives the same expert care regardless of color, gender or personality.
